Day 7 - Brussels, Belgium

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM

Wiki: "Brussels  officially the Brussels-Capital Region[5][6] [7] is the capital and largest city of Belgium and the de facto capital of the European Union (EU).[8][9] It is also the largest urban area in Belgium, comprising 19 municipalities, including the municipality of the City of Brussels, which de jure is the capital of Belgium, in addition to the seat of the French Community of Belgium and of the Flemish Community.[10]
Brussels has grown from a 10th-century fortress town founded by a descendant of Charlemagne to a sizeable city.[11] The city has a population of 1.2 million and a metropolitan area with a population of over 1.8 million, both of them the largest in Belgium.[12][13]"

MANNEKEN PIS

Wiki: "Manneken Pis (About this sound [ˌmɑnəkə(m) ˈpɪs] ; "Little man Pee" in DutchFrenchle Petit Julien) is a landmarksmall bronze sculpture in Brussels, depicting a naked little boy urinating into a fountain's basin. It was designed by Hiëronymus Duquesnoy the Elder and put in place in 1618 or 1619."

Hordes of tourists taking photo with the Pee Boy.

Most people (including myself) don't know the story behind this statue and can't be bothered with it. It is just famous, so people took photos with it, then more people saw the photos and take more photos with it when they are in Brussels, and the cycle goes on and on....
A classic example of irrational herd behaviour.

GRAND PLACE

Wiki: "The Grand Place  is the central square of Brussels. It is surrounded by opulent guildhalls and two larger edifices, the city's Town Hall, and the Breadhouse building containing the Museum of the City of Brussels. The square is the most important tourist destination and most memorable landmark in Brussels. It measures 68 by 110 metres (223 by 361 ft), and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site."

Fries.... is that Urine or Semen?

The fries in Brussels is also quite famous, as it is fried twice to make it crispy. And a few dipping sauces to choose from. Really not bad!

Waffle is also another specialty of Brussels. Quite nice too!

 Wrote this on FB:

" Eating mussels in Brussels (it kinda rhythms) plus Belgium beer is a MUST!!!

The first few mussels were Heavenly. I could taste the freshness and sweetness of each mussels. Wonderful!!!

After 80 mussels (yes! I finished every mussels), there is not much sweetness left. It felt as though I managed, somehow, to choose the good mussels in the beginning and left the less tasty ones to the back.

This is the Law of marginal diminishing returns. Buddha also said Sensory pleasures are fleeting in nature.
 It's so true!!!

"Enjoy Life, but don't be too attached to it."
This phrase was told to me by a Tibetan dude while I was traveling in Nepal.

Another lesson. Another reminder.
 "
